Another week has been put in the books on the PGA tour, and this week’s champion is no stranger to the spotlight. Dustin Johnson was able to put on a show for his second country, as he put up a monstrous -23 en route to his third win on tour this year. As the only tour event played in Canada, it is fitting that the man who married into Canadian royalty captured this win.
Speaking of which, he started off the week by paying tribute to his favorite hockey player (and father-in-law) of all time
With the practice round complete and, “The Rink” getting ready to see some great shots, DJ started off Thursday a little rocky. However, he was able to turn it around and chip in not once, but twice on Thursday.
The true star of the show on day one, however, was MY BOY Tommy Fleetwood. In a quick 4-hole stretch, he went from T124 to T8 with an impressive 2 eagles and 2 birdies.
Tommy would end up finishing T6 with a nice -16. As the tournament continued, it was clear that the world #1 was dialed in, heading into the final day tied for the lead. And if the golf gods had any say in this fight, it was going to be DJ to take home the prize.
There really hasn’t been another golfer (besides maybe Jonny Vegas) that has owned Glen Abbey like DJ has. Those stats are absolutely unfathomable, especially considering he missed the cut in 2016. And coming down the stretch, DJ proved that he is still not a human being, but a golf machine made in the image of Tiger Woods combined with the World’s Strongest Man:
DJ was able to be aggressive all the way to the end and finished 3 shots ahead of Byeong Hun An and Whee Kim. This also makes it the second straight week where I put in Draftkings Lineup you should not pick someone who finished in the top 3. Congrats to DJ on this great win!
